Day 9: Introducing the Hero

Some songs that introduce the hero of a movie.

Hindi:
1) M Bole To from Munnabhai MBBS, rather hilarious introduction of a gangster who forges his way into medical school (MBBS is a medical degree in India).

2) Chale Jaise Hawaien from Main Hoon Na. I really only listen to this song for the male singer who comes in at the end, but this video is amazingly done in (almost) one shot with no edits.

3) Mera Joota Hai Japani from Shree 420. Much older song, but a humble beginning for a hero in a movie. One of the songs that my parents liked to play in the car.

Tamil:
1) Oruvan Oruvan from Muthu. This song used to be a staple in AR Rahman concerts; what's more strange is that this song is a smash hit in Japan. There are many Youtube/game show videos of Japanese people singing this song. I don't think anyone knows why, but it's probably because it contains Rajnikanth.

2) Title Song from Thenali. A great comedy movie, this song introduces Thenali, a guy who's pathologically afraid of everything.

Telugu:
1) Title Song from Ek Niranjan. The guy in this song sings about how he has no parents, siblings, friends, house, doesn't know his name or age, etc, but nevertheless he is a carefree guy and does as he pleases.

2) Chandrullo Unde Kundelu from Nuvvostante Nenoddantana. Shankar Mahadevan sings a fantastic intro of the heroine and the hero of this movie.
